Protecting your Account – Important Update for Members Travelling Abroad
Keeping your money, personal information, and online services secure is one of our top priorities.
As part of our ongoing efforts to protect members from online threats, we have introduced a new security measure that blocks access attempts coming from a small number of countries where we have seen high levels of suspicious and malicious internet activity.
The countries affected are:
- Belarus
- China
- Hong Kong
- Russia
- Ukraine
- Vietnam
Our security teams regularly monitor attempts to access and attack our online services. We have seen significant levels of malicious activity originating from the countries listed above.
Because our membership is primarily based in Ireland, we expect very little genuine use of our services from these locations. Blocking traffic from these countries helps us reduce the risk of cyberattacks and better protect members' accounts and personal data.
For most members, there will be no impact at all. However, if you are travelling to one of the countries listed above, you may not be able to access some of our online services while there.
We understand that this may cause some inconvenience for a small number of members. However, after careful consideration, we believe this is the right balance between security and accessibility.
Protecting members' financial information and personal data is our priority, and this additional layer of security helps us do that.
We will continue to review our security measures regularly to ensure our services remain safe, secure, and available to our members.
