How the voices of our members continue to shape our direction
There is something uniquely valuable about taking the time to meet our members in person, to listen,
to connect, and to understand what matters most in their everyday lives. At this year’s INTO Congress in Killarney, that opportunity
was felt more strongly than ever.
Across the event, we had the pleasure of reconnecting
with many familiar faces while also meeting new members for the first time. The conversations were open, thoughtful, and full of insight. They reflected something that sits at
the heart of Comhar Linn: a strong, genuine relationship with the people we serve, built over time through trust
and consistency.
Many of the discussions centred on practical ways we
can continue to make life easier. From exploring loan options to opening Budget Accounts or setting up savings for children through minor accounts, members spoke
about the importance of services that are straightforward, accessible, and designed to fit real-life needs.
For some, the focus was on peace of mind. As one
member shared:
“I couldn’t live without my Budget Account, it has been a lifesaver, and I haven’t worried about
a bill in months.”
Others highlighted the convenience of day-to-day financial management, describing the service as “very helpful and convenient… 5-star service.”
For others, it was the simplicity and ease of getting started that made a lasting impression.
“Staff helped me set up my account… I couldn’t believe how easy it was, and I barely noticed the savings being deducted from my wages,”
one member explained, a reminder that even small, practical supports can have a meaningful impact over time.
There were also moments where members reflected on more personal experiences, such as support during important or difficult life events. In those situations,
what mattered most was not just the service itself,
but the care, understanding and respect shown by staff. These are the moments that quietly define what being
part of a credit union means.
Across all of these conversations, a clear theme emerged: people value being heard. They value being treated with respect, being taken seriously, and knowing that their experiences genuinely shape how services evolve.
At Comhar Linn, listening is not something that sits alongside our work; it is central to it. It influences how we design services, how we improve processes, and how we plan for the future.
That approach is rooted in who we are as a not-for-profit credit union. Our focus is not on profit or scale for its own sake, but on people, on making financial life simpler, more manageable, and less stressful wherever possible. Every service we offer is designed with that purpose in mind, whether it is helping members budget more effectively, save for the future, or access support at key life stages.
It is also what makes this community so strong. Comhar Linn exists because people chose to come together and build something based on cooperation and shared responsibility. That foundation still shapes everything we do today.
We see it in the loyalty of members who have been with us for many years. We see it in families who join and grow with us over time. And we see it in the everyday conversations where members recommend us to colleagues, friends, or family members, helping others discover the same sense of support they have experienced themselves.
That kind of trust is not something that can be manufactured. It is earned gradually, through consistency, fairness, and genuine care in every interaction.
So, more than anything, this is a moment to acknowledge and appreciate that trust.
To recognise the value of every conversation, every piece of feedback, and every member who continues to engage with us. It all contributes to shaping a service that is responsive, relevant, and grounded in real experience.
Looking ahead, the intention remains simple. To keep listening closely. To keep improving where we can. And to ensure that Comhar Linn continues to reflect the needs and values of the people it serves.
Because at its heart, this is not just about financial services. It is about people supporting people and the strength that comes from that connection.
Thank you.
